DAVID GRUBBS er tilbake i Oslo og det er all grunn til å ta notis av denne begivenheten.

Grubbs har opp igjennom årene befestet seg som en av de aller mest interessante låtskriverne fra over dammen, der han nå arbeider som professor i musikk ved Brooklyn College and The Graduate Center, CUNY. Siden slutten av 90-tallet har han utgitt 16 soloalbum og bidratt på mer enn 200(!). Forfatter er han også og står bak titler som blant annet Good night the pleasure was ours, The Voice in the Headphones, Now that the audience is assembled og Records Ruin the Landscape: John Cage, the Sixties, and Sound Recording (all published by Duke University Press). For å skumme fløten.

Grubbs er en enestående instrumentalist som bergtar oss med hver utgivelse der sjangergrensene mellom improvisasjon, rock og samtidsmusikk brytes ned i et spenningsfelt mellom det forutsigbare og det uforutsigbare. Resultatet er en konsertopplevelse som krever tilstedeværelse og som bare gir og gir. Og David Grubbs gir oss i både pose og sekk!

David Grubbs has released sixteen solo albums and appeared on more than 200 releases. He was a member of the groups Gastr del Sol, Bastro, and Squirrel Bait, and has performed with Tony Conrad, Pauline Oliveros, Luc Ferrari, Will Oldham, Loren

Connors, Jan St. Werner, the Red Krayola, and many others. He is known for his cross-disciplinary collaborations with poet Susan Howe and visual artists Anthony McCall, Angela Bulloch, and Josiah McElheny. In 2000, his The Spectrum Between (Drag City) was named “Album of the Year” in the London Sunday Times.

Grubbs is Distinguished Professor of Music at Brooklyn College and The Graduate Center, CUNY. His books include Good night the pleasure was ours, The Voice in the Headphones, Now that the audience is assembled, and Records Ruin the Landscape: John Cage, the Sixties, and Sound Recording (all published by Duke University Press).
